MORE than 20 groups across Nottingham are recruiting volunteers this weekend as part of National Volunteers' Week.
Whether you are passionate about digital technology or want to help someone with Alzheimer's, there are hundreds of opportunities.
Nottingham Community and Voluntary Service is holding the recruitment drive at the Voluntary Action Centre, in Mansfield Road, on Saturday to showcase what is available.
One group that will be attending is Inspire, which runs a day centre for people with learning difficulties.
Jodie Twigger, volunteer coordinator for the charity, said there was a range of opportunities, from helping out in the charity shop in Shakespeare Street to taking people out for the day – or even for a coffee.
The group is also on the lookout for people with music, craft or dance skills to help run sessions.
She said: "We have lots of different volunteers that come with loads of different experiences but they become more confident, build their life experience.
"People tell us they see the whole world in a different way because it breaks down the stigmas of people with learning difficulties."
There will also be opportunities for people with language skills.
Signpost to Polish Success wants Polish speaking volunteers to work as teaching assistants and translators as well as reporters and photographers for its monthly magazine.
And the Alzheimer's Society is appealing for "working-age" people to befriend younger Alzheimer's sufferers.
Some are in their 40s and volunteers with a variety of interests, from football to shopping, are wanted to spend time with them.
Rebecca Ford, volunteering officer at the Alzheimer's Society, said: "It enables them to enjoy things they may not otherwise be able to take part in. It also gives their carers a break."
There are also opportunities to befriend older people, and get involved in events like the 10k Memory Walk, which will be held on Nottingham's Victoria Embankment on September 4.
The recruitment drive is from 10am to 4pm.
Volunteers' Week runs from June 1 to 7.
