BALLET CLASS: Dancers preparing to take to the stage for a performance of The Nutcracker have started rehearsals.
Almost 200 young hopefuls auditioned for a place in the English Youth Ballet (EYB) touring production, which is to be staged at The Regent theatre, in Hanley. In total, 112 boys and girls from Stoke-on-Trent, North Staffordshire and South Cheshire, aged between eight and 18 years old landed roles in the production.
They began their rehearsals at Biddulph High School this week and face 11 intensive six-hour sessions before moving on to the stage.
Neve Campbell, aged 13, has been awarded the leading role as Clara.
Company manager Ben Garner said: "It was a dream come true for her. It's a touring production and we do eight cities a year, but we've found that the standard in Stoke is incredibly high."
The EYB will stage three performances at The Regent on June 24 and 25. Call the box office on 0844 871 7649 for tickets.
