MORE tributes have flooded in for legendary radio presenter Sam Plank.
The 62-year-old lost his fight against cancer last Thursday evening.
The Sentinel has been inundated with well-wishers sharing their memories of the former Radio Stoke DJ.
Karen Rose, director of income generation at the Douglas Macmillan Hospice said: "Sam was a tremendous supporter of Dougie Mac, he gave his time to help in numerous fund-raising events over the years and as a broadcaster.
"He always was so enthusiastic about the work the hospice undertakes.
"He will be sorely missed by so many people in the area.
"He was a lovely person to know, who enjoyed coming from Stoke-on-Trent and was always promoting the city in a positive light."
Pat Layland met Sam when she worked as the press and communications officer at Hanley's Theatre Royal in the 1980s.
The 67-year-old, from Blythe Bridge, said: "I used to go to Radio Stoke to promote the shows at the theatre and that is when I got to know Sam.
"He was the people's champion and would always help you if you asked for a favour.
"He had a kind word for everyone and would always back your cause if you had an appeal or a campaign.
"It's a sad loss for everyone who knew him but particularly for his wife and children. Stoke-on-Trent is a poorer place without him."
Joan Walley, MP for Stoke-on-Trent North, said: "Sam was a man with great energy who cared so deeply about the hopes and aspirations of the real people in Stoke-on-Trent.
"He was in touch with them and used his work in the media to raise their concerns and fight alongside them for what they wanted.
"His death will create a huge gap in the city and will be mourned by many people.
"I hope a way is found to keep his energy, compassion and commitment which he had for the city to be kept alive in his memory."
Details of Sam's funeral are yet to be announced.
