Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs have avoided a MTN8 semifinal derby, instead they will play Sundowns and Ajax CT respectively.
|||Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates avoided each other in the MTN8 semifinal draw last night.
Instead the Soweto giants won home advantage for the first legs of the R8-million first prize competition, with Amakhosi (third last season) hosting Ajax Cape Town (second) and Pirates (first) taking on Mamelodi Sundowns (fourth) in what’s expected to be the most intriguing of the semifinals.
A possibility of a high profile Soweto Derby still exists for the September 10 final, however, if Chiefs and Pirates overcome stern challenges from Ajax and Sundowns, respectively.
Semifinal first leg games take place on August 20 and 21, while the second leg will be played the following weekend (August 27 and 28).
The PSL also announced that the dates and venues for the semi-finals will be confirmed during the course of the season.
