Afrikaans rapperJack Parow says city fans could soon be rocking to his music at a bring and braai party in Stellenbosch.

He is working on a new album and is bringing out his own branded braai sauce. “It’s going to be blerrie lekka,” he told the Cape Argus yesterday.

The rapper, real name Zander Tyler, will be promoting the sauce at the Klein Libertas Theatre in Stellenbosch.

Parow,

well-known for his signature over-sized peak cap and moustache, also has a toy figurine coming out called “I am collective”, and his clothing line, “parowphernalia”, is available in city stores.

Collaborators expected on the new album include rapper Hip Hop Pantsula, better known as HHP, and Gazelle.

Parow has previously teamed up with Die Heuwels Fantasties on the song Die Vraagstuk and collaborated with Die Antwoord and Fokofpolisiekar.

“There could be others but it’s still the starting phase,” said Parow, who is touring the country until the end of March.

He is also planning tours to Europe and possibly the US.

He says Cookie Monsta can be found on his personal playlist and, surprisingly, Dean Martin. “I’ve rediscovered his music, which my father used to listen to.”

Parow attributes his success to being honest and rapping about issues people can relate to. “I don’t say what people want me to say… just what I think,” he said.

He will be performing in Pretoria and Middelburg before arriving in Swellendam tomorrow. - Cape Argus
