Fernando Torres left Liverpool training in a helicopter, fuelling speculation that a late transfer deal will be signed in London today.

Liverpool, England – Reports say Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has left the club's training ground in a helicopter, adding to speculation that the Spaniard could be on his way to Premier League rival Chelsea.

British newspapers say Chelsea is prepared to pay £50 million for the Spain striker, but Liverpool has so far denied a deal is in the works.

Monday is the final day of the transfer window.

Torres, who is under contract until 2013, is one of the most sought-after players in world football despite a disappointing contribution to Spain's World Cup win last year. He scored the winning goal in Spain's 2008 European Championship win over Germany and has struck 81 goals in 142 games for Liverpool. - Sapa-AP
