|||Abuja - Nigerian officials have decided to postpone Saturday's parliamentary elections in the capital Abuja because of organisational problems, an electoral commission spokesman said.
“Regrettably, I have been directed to inform the press that the commission in its wisdom has decided to postpone the elections of today in the Federal Capital Territory, and that in due course the public will be informed of a new date,” Mohammed Salihu told journalists.
Asked why, he said, “the postponement may not be unconnected to the fact that our vendors have not been able to provide us with basic materials, particularly with respect to the senatorial election ballot papers.”
