Plea for help to set up museum

HISTORIAN Robert Worrall has renewed an appeal for help to set up a new museum.

The 40-year-old, from Biddulph, has spent two years and 2,000 of his own money collecting artefacts linked to the town's past.

Items are currently stored at his home but he wants to find a place for them to go on public display.

But in order to do so, he is appealing for help from local people and businesses for help with the cost.

Robert, who works for Morrisons, said: "I need to get some sponsorship before I can get a building to put the items in.

"Once I have got the museum set up, it should be able to generate enough money to pay for itself.

"I'd be really grateful for any amount a company can give, or if a few companies are willing to club together.

"Or if any are having a refit and have cabinets or display cases they could donate, that would be great too."

Many of the items in Robert's collection have been bought from internet auction sites.

They include pit checks at the former Victoria Colliery, commemorative plates, old football programmes.

To help, or find out more, call Robert on 01782 523855 after 5.30pm.
