Man suffers burns after petrol fumes ignite in allotment fire

​A man has been treated in hospital after suffering burns from a fire at his allotment.

Firefighers were called out shortly after 9.30am to reports of a fire on land near Kimberley Street, Longton.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said the man was carrying out a controlled burn on the land and used petrol to help the fire along.

He said: "The fumes ignited and as a result the man suffered burns to his right hand."
