Mum remains in burns unit - four months after fire kills partner

A MOTHER-OF-FOUR severely injured in a house fire remains in hospital more than three months after the blaze.

Christopher Maskery, aged 24, died two weeks after the December 17 fire in Housefield Road, Bentilee.

His partner, Sharon Hurd, remains on the burns unit at Selly Oak Hospital, in Birmingham.

She woke up at the end of January after losing consciousness for six weeks.

Ms Hurd suffered serious burns and has undergone a number of skin graft operations.

Ms Hurd remains in a stable condition but friends say she is not expected to be released from hospital in the foreseeable future.

At the time of the fire, at around 9am, the house was occupied by the couple and their four children Nemo, Christopher, Dylan and Sasha who remain with Ms Hurd's mother, Leanne Hurd.
