MPs revolt against zoning

Ongoing moves by President Goodluck Jonathan and other leaders of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] to zone top political offices to the six geopolitical zones ran into trouble yesterday when elected members of the House of Representatives revolted against zoning and demanded for the right of MPs to elect their own leaders in an unfettered manner. The House members, from four political parties and five geopolitical zones, said the Legislature must assert its independence so that it can grow and mature.
