South African Player of the Year Thulani Serero confirmed his exciting potential on Wednesday when he scored for his new club, Ajax Amsterdam, in a 3-0 win over Brondby FC.

The finalised moves, however, of other PSL players to Europe remain in the balance.

Bidvest Wits University's Sifiso Myeni, who is on trial with Brondby, made a second-half appearance against Ajax, but the Danish club have yet to decide whether to sign the player on a permanent basis.

After the match against Brondby, former Dutch international and Ajax Amsterdam manager, Frank de Boer, had glowing praise for Serero, who was signed from feeder club Ajax Cape Town.

“We had favourable reports on the boy before we signed him,” De Boer said on the Ajax website.

“But he has turned out better even than I expected.

“His speed is impressive and his football brain is sharp as well.”

In contrast, the anticipated signing by 1899 Hoffenheim of Kaizer Chiefs' Zimbabwean international striker, Knowledge Musona, has been delayed.

The German Bundesliga club said in a statement the Amakhosi had raised their original transfer fee.

Reports indicate that Scottish club Glasgow Celtic have also shown an interest in the Zimbabwean international, perhaps affecting Musona's price on the transfer market.

Also on the Celtic buying list is leading Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns striker Katlego Mphela, who is due to travel to Scotland for trials with the Glasgow club.

Mphela has long expressed a desire to return to Europe where he had a spell with French club Strasbourg three seasons ago. – Sapa
