What's On in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire

ORCHESTRA: Newcastle Strings perform with violinist Benedict Holland on Saturday at Kidsgrove Town Hall, for a charity gala in aid of Diabetes UK. The evening, which starts at 7.30pm, features a programme including Mozart's Violin Concerto no 5 in A, and Schubert's Rondo in A. Admission is �5, including refreshments (concessions �3). GIG: Stoke band Riots headline at The Sugarmill tomorrow. The indie group will be joined by guests Section 60 and The Pretty Great Whites. Doors open at 7pm. Tickets cost �4.55 from Music Mania on 01782 206000.

CLASSICAL: Manchester Camerata hold a cello and piano recital at the MET Studio, at Stafford Gatehouse, tonight at 7.30pm. DANCE: Hanley-based studio Dance Akademix present their new show, 7. Depicting the seven deadly sins through a fusion of street dance and hip hop, the event takes place at Victoria Hall on Friday at 7.30pm. Call the box office on 0844 871 7649.

BRASS: The Ceramic Brass Band, fresh from winning the North East Midlands area contest, are preparing for a concert to raise funds for Animal Lifeline. The concert takes place on Saturday at Weston Coyney Village Hall at 7.30pm. Tickets are �6 if bought in advance from an Animal Lifeline shop in Newcastle or Longton, �7 if paying on the door.

ART: An exhibition of current works by Ivan Taylor and Ann Roach takes place at The Art Studio Gallery, The Barracks, Newcastle, from Saturday until Saturday, April 2.
