Wife who stabbed husband in arm, and then called 999, spared jail

A WOMAN stabbed her husband in the arm on New Year's Day – and then gave him first aid and called 999.
Former JobCentre worker Julie Jones plunged the kitchen knife in to her husband's bicep at their Stone home.
And when police and paramedics arrived, Mrs Jones told officers: "We had an argument and I just stabbed him."
Stafford Crown Court heard
Mr Jones, who would not give a police statement,  needed five stitches.
Now Mrs Jones, aged 47, of Albert Street has been handed a six-month prison sentence suspended for a year after admitting assault.
She was also ordered to pay 340 costs.
The court heard the couple had gone home after celebrating in a pub.
Mrs Jones told police that she had stabbed her husband following an argument in their kitchen.
Eugene Hickey, defending, said Mrs Jones had already quit her job of more than 20 years because she faced being sacked and losing her pension.
The court heard Mrs Jones had won an employee of the month award in November and did charity work.
Mr Hickey said: "My client is 47, never been before a court before and is of impeccable character.
"She cannot explain her behaviour, had been suffering from stress and was drinking in the evenings."
Mrs Jones has now got a kitchen job.
Judge Michael Cullum told Mrs Jones: "Although it is very much to your credit by first getting the paramedics and admitting what you had done, it was your own fault.
"It was the use of a knife in dangerous circumstances and it was a significant injury inflicted with a weapon when you had been drinking.
"The matter has to be marked with a prison sentence, although, you are not going to prison today."
