Rewarding customers for brand?s success

THE customers play a critical role and hold the key to the success of a brand in the market place. This is why most successful brands always acknowledge the role the customers play in their success by compensating them in different forms. To compensate customers for its success as the leading telecommunication brand in Nigeria, especially as the outfit marks its tenth year in Nigeria, MTN last week staged a thank you concert in Ilorin to appreciate its numerous customers for making it the preferred choice.

So on Friday, the city of Ilorin was agog as the company painted the city in yellow and black, as it assembled an array of music stars to excite its customers. As early as 4pm, people had started queuing up to enter the Roemichs Hall, the venue of the show. A deejay was also stationed outside the hall to dish out different songs to the admiration of people around and those commuting on the popular Muritala Muhammed Road in Ilorin metropolis.

Inside the hall, from 5.44 pm when the Deejay kicked off the show by playing songs that kept the crowd yearning for more, it was fun all the way. About an hour later, two compares came on board interacting with the audience including arousing them for a great show considering the lineup of big music stars that would perform. The talk was also embellished with jokes that were occasionally greeted with applause from the audience.

The compare thereafter introduced the home-based singers with King Soul, the first to perform among other artistes that included two child artistes and a disabled.

Thereafter, the MTN project fame products that included Yetunde Omo Ibadan, Chidinma, Iyanya, took over the stage and they all made the crowd had a nice time out. Then the big performers that included Sir Shina Peter, Adewale Ayuba, Kenny Brown, Olamide and Abolore Akande alias Nice entertained the guests till late in the night.

Engineer Rasheed Oyedeji, who works with the Lower Basin Commission expressed joy about the show. He also said it was nice seeing Sir Shina Peters play live.

?I enjoyed every bit of my time here especially when the stars performed.?

Commenting on the programme, the Assistant Manager, Event and Sponsorship, MTN, Mr. Joseph Ogbuka said that the concert is one leg of the MTN ten cities thank you concerts as it marks ten years in Nigeria. He stated that before the Ilorin concert, about five other locations had experience the excitement of interacting with their music stars courtesy of MTN.  Apart from enriching people?s lives, MTN decided to stage the concert across the cities to thank ?its customers for making it the number one because if not for them, the organisation would not be in business,? Ogbuka remarked.
