A GUNMAN has been jailed for eight years for firing shots at a car in Basford last year.
Duane Clarke, 25, fired a handgun at a silver Ford Fiesta containing a 30-year-old man in Sandon Street on July 26.
The driver was unharmed after the first shot missed and the second struck the car's wheel arch.
Clarke ran away after firing the shots but was later snared by a Notts Police investigation.
Clarke, of Sandon Street, Basford, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life at an earlier hearing.
At Nottingham Crown Court today Judge Timothy Spencer jailed him for eight years.
Said Det Insp Adrian Morgan: "Clarke fired a gun with no regard for the fact that someone could have been seriously injured or killed as a result of his actions.
"The case shows he had ready access to a genuine firearm and despite Sandon Street being a densely populated residential area, which includes a number of local businesses, he still fired the weapon."
