RESIDENTS in Corsham Gardens are being encouraged to report problems with crime and antisocial behaviour.
One household has started a petition for two archways to be closed, claiming drug dealers and vandals use them as a cut-through.
But Mapperley ward councillor Emma Dewinton said she has spoken to police who say the level of reported crime and antisocial behaviour is low.
Coun Dewinton said: "Listening to residents there over the last month, it is clear the majority are understandably proud of their estate and see it as a good place to live.
"Over 2009/10, in conjunction with police, I raised concerns about anti-social behaviour at a property, with the landlord and relevant agencies, on behalf of neighbours. In October 2010, we achieved a successful resolution of this problem, where the house was removed from lettings to young, vulnerable tenants.
"I would encourage residents to get in touch with the relevant helpline or community policing contact about any current issues."
The petitioners hope the city council makes gating orders for the archways, preventing the street being used as a cut-through. The petition is online at www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk.
