Aspley man jailed for growing cannabis

A MAN caught growing �20,000 of cannabis in his house has been jailed for 14 months.

Aspley man Adrian Webster Ricketts, 36, was arrested on April 7 last year at his home in Shepton Crescent.

Officers seized 44 cannabis plants - 18 in his bedroom, four in another room and 22 in the loft.

When fully grown it was estimated they would be worth around �20, 260.

Ricketts pleaded guilty to production of cannabis when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on 3 May 2011. He reappeared at Nottingham Crown Court yesterday and was sentenced to 14 months in prison.

Ricketts was arrested as part of the police's Operation Barnstormer

As part of this operation between October 2009 and December 2010, police have executed 174 warrants at homes in the city's Broxtowe Safer Neighbourhood area and arrested 126 people.

Thousands of cannabis plants, along with heroin, cocaine and amphetamine were seized, worth a total of �1,397,009.

And officers have made 53 charges relating to the supply and possession of drugs, 38 people have been cautioned and a further 23 people have been given cannabis warnings.

To date more than 25 weapons have been seized, along with �10,910 cash.
