Madrid – Real Madrid will not listen to an allegedly planned offer by Manchester City for Cristiano Ronaldo, according to the Spanish media on Friday.

Madrid sports daily AS said on Friday that City owner sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan is planning to make Real a record-breaking offer of 180 million euros (256.9 million dollars) for the 26 year-old striker.

But AS added that “Ronaldo will not leave because he does not want to and because Real did not sign him in order to sell him on but in order to win titles.”

In 2009, Real president Florentino Perez smashed the world transfer record by paying 96 million euros for Ronaldo from Manchester United.

In his first season in Madrid, Ronaldo scored 26 league goals, despite a niggling ankle injury. This season he has equalled the all-time Liga scoring record with 38 goals and has the chance to establish a new record on Saturday in Real's last game, at home to relegated Almeria.

In addition, he scored the winner in Real's King's Cup final defeat of Barcelona, which gave the whites their first trophy since 2008.

Radio Marca said Friday that “there is now way that Madrid will sell Ronaldo”, and Cadena COPE said that “the club's entire marketing and football strategy is built around him.”

Marca, meanwhile, quoted Real keeper Iker Casillas as saying:

“Ronaldo is our flagship, he is our point of reference.” – Sapa-dpa
