Charity helps disabled kids to get together

A NEW youth club for disabled youngsters is being launched on Monday.

Caudwell Children is behind the Butterfly Club, which aims to help those in the area with a disability to build confidence and make new friends in a fun environment.

Run by a team of volunteers from the charity, the youth club at Whitfield Valley Community Centre, Fegg Hayes, will offer arts and crafts, computer games and group activities.

Susan Bierczak, activity fund-raiser for Caudwell Children, said: "We want to invite all families in the area with disabled children to join us at the Butterfly Club, which will take place once a month following the launch event.

"The club will provide a range of inclusive activities for eight to 18 year olds and with the aim of encouraging social inclusion and time with peers.

"It offers families the opportunity to get a couple of hours' respite from the demands of caring for a disabled child.

"We are also welcoming the siblings of disabled youngsters to be part of the club."

It is a great opportunity to meet new friends."

The club's launch is due to take place between 5pm and 7pm.
