Motorists warned to expect delays as Christmas getaway begins

MOTORISTS are being warned to expect delays on the motorways as thousands of people set off for the Christmas holidays.

There are currently delays on Pump Hollow Road in Forest town after a three-car smash at 7.30am. Police say no one has been injured.

A broken down lorry is also causing delays on the inbound side of the A610 near the Nuthall island.

A normal service is being run on the trains, though services will be finishing earlier than normal. The last train from Nottingham to London St Pancras leaves at 6.45pm.

Temperatures are not expected to get above freezing today. It will be cloudy for most of the day, though some sunny spells are expected. It is expected to drop down to -5C tonight.
