STUDENTS with learning difficulties have been picking up skills by helping to run a community cafe.

Volunteers from Strathmore College in Wolstanton - an institute which offers courses to people with learning difficulties, mental illnesses, complex needs and autism - have been helping out at the Apedale caf.

The cafe is located at the Apedale Heritage Centre in Chesterton

A total of 32 residential learners and 14 day users have been helping run the cafe where various treats are rustled up for the public.

Kate Banner, a senior tutor at the college, said: "I'm so proud of all the people from Strathmore who volunteer at Apedale caf.

"It's fantastic to see them doing such a great job while developing their social and life skills."
