Your chance to nominate county's best police officer

RESIDENTS in Notts are being asked to help find the county's best police officer.

Notts Police is seeking nominations for its annual awards, which celebrate the best neighbour policing officer and police community support officer for 2010-11.

Officers who have provided an exceptional service can be nominated for the Christopher McDonald Community Officer of the Year award.

The honour is named in memory of PC Christopher McDonald, who was killed on duty while attending a robbery in Worksop in 1978.

Chief Constable Julia Hodson, who will present the awards, said: "There is no one better placed to identify those officers who go above and beyond the call of duty than the people of Nottinghamshire."

Nominations should be a maximum of 500 words, and should state why you think the officer should win the award.

They can be submitted in writing to Melanie Winskill-Wilson at Nottinghamshire Police Headquarters, Sherwood Lodge, Arnold, Nottinghamshire, NG5 8PP, or by e-mail to force.awards@nottinghamshire.pnn.police.uk.

The closing date is midnight on Sunday, May 8.
