London – West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce confirmed on Friday that his club are in talks with Tottenham Hotspur over the possible sale of Hammers midfielder Scott Parker.

Allardyce appears keen to bring an end to the Parker saga in order to raise funds before the transfer window shuts next week and he admitted in a press conference that negotiations are now under way.

“I am not in talks (personally) with them but there is some dialogue going on at the moment. That is all I am aware of,” he said.

Parker, 30, who was voted England's Footballer of the Year last season by the country's football writers, wants to return to the Premier League to aid his chances of cementing a place in the England squad. – Sapa-AFP
