Railway given new computers

FOUR computers have been given to a heritage railway by a school.

Haywood High School and Engineering College, in Burslem, has given the equipment to Foxfield Railway, in Blythe Bridge.

The railway was in desperate need to upgrade their office facilities and needed new computers to help with the administration and day-to-day business of the railway.

The donation was the brainchild of Annette Barnett, senior teaching assistant at the school.

Mrs Barnett said "After reading in the paper about the burglary which happened at Foxfield last year I couldn't help noticing the old computers which were being employed in the office.

"The computers at the college were being replaced as part of an upgrade and were, therefore redundant so I approached Richard, my son and marketing manager of Foxfield, to see if he could make use of them."

Mr Barnett added: "When my mother approached me about the computers I was really happy for the railway.

"It was complete change of fortunes to have a break in one week then an offer of a very generous donation the next."
