Forum to give traders voice

TRADERS are hoping to set up a forum to help give a town's business owners a greater voice.

A meeting to discuss the initiative will be held on Monday morning where interested businesses in Longton can find out more information on the project.

Organiser Dave Hall, aged 35, who runs The Partners barbers shop, in The Strand, said: "We are trying to set up a traders' forum as there is not a group that meets on a regular basis to discuss issues that affect the town centre.

"The other towns have traders' groups and they act as a platform for businesses to help each other out. If nobody stands up for traders then I fear Longton will become a forgotten town and miss out on potential opportunities.

"We all need to try and attract new businesses to Longton and support each other."

The meeting will be held at the George and Dragon pub, in The Strand, at 9.30am.
