Detectives arrest two and make car appeal over Boxing Day shooting

DETECTIVES investigating a Boxing Day shooting have arrested two men and are asking the public to help trace a car seen leaving the area shortly afterwards.

Twenty-four year-old Damien Meredith was critically injured in the incident, which occurred in Westville Gardens, St Ann's, at around 1.20am on Sunday, December 26.

He had to have emergency surgery to remove a bullet from his brain and remains seriously ill in hospital.

Two men, aged 18 and 24 and both from Nottingham, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder this morning and will be questioned by detectives today.

It brings the total number of arrests in connection with this incident to nine. Seven people are currently on bail pending further inquiries.

Earlier today, officers also searched three properties connected to the inquiry.

Police have also identified and located a number of vehicles linked to the incident, but are keen to trace a dark grey Mini with the registration plate H20 SHG.

The car was reportedly seen leaving the area at speed shortly after the incident.
