School pupils win prizes in store art competition

ART ATTACK: Five artistic youngsters have won �50 worth of prizes in a painting competition.

The contest was staged by supermarket giant Sainsbury's to mark the opening of the new store in Biddulph.

Youngsters at Kingsfield First School and Squirrel Hayes First School, both Biddulph, were yesterday presented with their prizes, which included book tokens and stationery vouchers.

Award ceremonies at Biddulph Moor First School� and Knypersley First School will be held next week for the other prize-winning pupils.

Their paintings have now gone on display in the cafe at the supermarket, which opened in November.

Store public relations spokesman Elizabeth Heap said: "We invited all the local first schools to take part in the competition just before Christmas. All the paintings are lovely."
